Privacy policy

Expat Unlocked collects as little personal data as possible. This page explains what is collected when you visit, who processes it and how to contact us about it.

What we collect

When you browse the site: we don't use our own tracking cookies, advertising trackers or analytics that identify you. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Fonts: the site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with Google. See Google's privacy policy.

Newsletter: if you subscribe, we store your email address with our email provider so we can send you new guides. We use it for nothing else, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

Email: if you write to us, we keep your message and address so we can reply.

Affiliate links

When you click an affiliate link and land on another company's site (for example Booking.com or Amazon), that company may set cookies to track the referral. Their own privacy policies apply from that point. See our affiliate disclosure.

Embedded and linked content

Links to YouTube and other sites take you to services with their own privacy practices. We don't control the data they collect.

How long we keep data

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Emails are kept as long as needed to deal with your message.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to how it's used. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.

Changes

If we change how data is handled, for example by adding analytics, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
